Binary Digit (Binärziffer), die kleinste Darstellungseinheit für Computer. Ein Bit kann den Wert 0 oder 1 haben. Durch Folgen von Bits können mehr Informationen dargestellt werden. Bei 8 Bit ( Byte) ergeben sich2< sup>8</sup> = 256 verschiedene Informationen.
