рыночный риск
Один из рисков, связанных с ведением рыночных операций. Сравни: counterparty risk (риск противоположной стороны). Очевидными рыночными рисками являются покупка на рынке, цены или конъюнктура на котором затем падают, или продажа на рынке с повышающимися ценами. Такие риски можно уменьшить путем хеджирования/ страхования от потерь (hedging), в первую очередь за счет фьючерсных контрактов (fiitures contracts) или опционов (options), но целиком исключить нельзя никогда. Эти рыночные риски представляют из себя оборотную сторону рыночных возможностей, которые позволяют спекулянтам получать прибыль. Элементом рыночного риска может быть валютный риск (currency risk). Так покупатель американских ценных бумаг в Лондоне, который уплачивает за них в фунтах стерлингов, сталкивается не только с риском падения цен на эти ценные бумаги в США, но и с риском неблагоприятного соотношения валютных курсов доллара и фунта.

Установление такого паритета курсов валют является основным признаком продвижения к единой денежной системе.
