9 dollop
В кулинарии это 'roughly the amount of warm butter you can scoop on to the end of a spatula before dropping it into your frying pan' (примерное количество мягкого сливочного масла, которое вы берёте лопаточкой и кладёте на сковороду). Mark Morton (Cupboard Love — A Dictionary of Culinary Curiosities (1996)):Add a generous dollop of ice-cream and the dessert should be perfect.

10 be one step ahead of the sheriff
My curiosities throw a wide net. I have always been fascinated by the charecter who tepresents the opposite of my New England... the man who lives by his wits, "one step ahead of the sheriff"... at the margin of decorous living, delighted to outwit the clods... (Th.
Ever since they took over that business they have been just one step ahead of the sheriff. (HAI) —
