Во Франции начиная с 1983 г. наиболее употребительным применительно к рынку некотируемых ценных бумаг средних и мелких компаний является термин second marché, а его официальное название звучит следующим образом: marché des valeurs mobilières non inscrites à la cote officielle. Выражение marché hors cote (внебиржевой рынок) используется в отношении всех внебиржевых операций с ценными бумагами любых компаний.
