кредитная карточка
Пластиковая карточка, которая выпускается банком или финансовой организацией. Карточки являются персональными, на них указаны имя владельца и образец его подписи, они являются магнитными. Эти карточки могут быть использованы для покупки товаров и услуг в розничной торговле. Розничный торговец оплачивается непосредственно соответствующей компанией, выпускающей кредитные карточки, с вычетом платы, взимаемой за обслуживание кредитных карточек. Клиент ежемесячно получает от эмитирующей кредитные карточки компании счет, который он должен полностью оплатить в течение установленного срока, причем проценты по кредиту в этом случае не взимаются. Обычно компания требует ежемесячного минимального погашения части долга, как правило 5 % общей суммы задолженности. За оставшуюся часть задолженности клиент платит высокий процент (обычно от 24 % до 30 % в год), сопоставимый с процентами по обычным займам. В Великобритании наиболее распространенными являются карточки “Барклейкард” и “Эксесс” (через системы “Виза” и “Мастеркард”).
