На этих встречах собравшиеся угощались печеньем или галетами из бочонков или ящиков, находившихся в магазине. Выражение crackerbarrel philosophy («философия бочонка с галетами») стало означать упрощённый, мещанский взгляд на мир, отсутствие глубокого изучения и детального знания всех фактов данной проблемы. -
