Одна из лучших ролей Дэнни Кея, где его фантазии (особенно близкой детям) и вокальным способностям находится выгодное применение. Фильм поставлен умело и содержит несколько зрелищных сцен, где наличие роскошных декораций и массовки еще больше усиливает комизм ситуации: напр., сцена принудительного (и проведенного кое-как) посвящения Дэнни Кея в рыцари или штурм замка карликами - финал в лучших традициях приключенческих костюмных фильмов.
