Horn, I) eig.: cornu. – ein kleines H., corniculum: von H., cornĕus: zu H. werden, cornescere. – mit Hörnern, Hörner habend, tragend, cornūtus: ohne Hörner, mutilus (v. dem, der eig. Hörner haben sollte, z.B. Widder); mit den Hörnern stoßen, cornibus ferire, petere (absol. od. nach jmd. od. etwas, alqm od. alqd): einander, cornibus inter se luctari. – sich die Hörner abstoßen, ablaufen, ferociam exuere (sein Ungestüm ablegen): er hat sich die Hörner abgestoßen, abgelaufen, ferocia eius fracta est (sein Ungestüm ist gebrochen); adulescentiae cupiditates deferbuerunt. adulescentia deferbuit (seine Jugend hat ausgetobt). – II) meton.: a) die Hörnerdes Mondes: cornualunae. – b) Trinkhorn: cornu. – c) Blashorn: cornu (das krumme). – bucĭna (das gerade, wie das Hirtenhorn, Signalhorn). – ins Horn stoßen, cornu inflare; bucinam inflare; bucinare: mit jmd. in ein H. blasen, cum alqo conspirare, consentire (mit jmd. übereinstimmen); cum alqo colludere (mit jmd. unter einer Decke stecken bei Betrügereien).
