En futurekontrakt er en standardiseret gensidig aftale om fremtidigt køb eller salg af et underliggende aktiv til en aftalt kurs på et fast fremtidigt tidspunkt. Standardiseringen omfatter stykstørrelse, løbetid og det underliggende aktiv. Det underliggende aktiv er typisk en aktie, et aktieindeks, en obligation eller en kurv af leverbare obligationer. For de fleste futurekontrakter, som handles internationalt, vil der være tale om fysisk levering af det underliggende aktiv. Futurekontrakterne handles som oftest på specielle børser for futures og optioner.Der indbetales en sikkerhedsmargin til dækning for den næste dags kursudvikling. Endvidere er der en daglig variationsmargin, som er en daglig afregning af den foregående dags tab/gevinst. Tab/gevinst opgøres på basis af den foregående dags officielle lukkekurs.Handel med futurekontrakter gennem Danske Bank kræver en rammeaftale. -
