Индексный показатель, характеризующий средний темп изменения цен товаров за определенный период. Рассчитывается, как правило, для заданной более или менее широкой совокупности товаров и услуг при анализе экономических процессов, для соизмерении разновременных затрат и результатов производственной и торговой деятельности, в кредитовании, при расчетах компенсации доходов в периоды падения покупательной силы денег. Среди И.ц. наиболее известны: 1). Индекс розничных цен (consumer price index, CPI), иначе называемый индексом стоимости жизни или индексом потребительских цен, ИПЦ. Он рассчитывается на основе цен т.н. рыночной корзины (набора основных товаров и услуг, которые представляют собой покупки обычной семьи). ИПЦ служит наиболее распространенным индикатором изменений в жизненном уровне населения той или иной страны. 2). Индексы оптовых цен производителей (producer price index). Помимо других применений, они используются при оценке стоимости бизнеса, — в частности, при прогнозировании денежных потоков, анализе тенденций развития предприятий (компаний). Существуют десятки методов расчета И.ц., различающихся как принципами отбора товаров и услуг для оценки, так и использованием разных способов усреднения (средняя арифметическая, средняя геометрическая и др.). Применяется также преобразование полученных индексов в более общие — например, путем расчета средней геометрической из индексов Ласпейреса и Пааше получают т.н. «идеальный индекс Фишера»
