Наиболее развитая форма объединения предприятий, осуществляется посредством системы участии, финансовых связей, договоров об общности интересов, личных уний. Входящие в К. предприятия номинально остаются самостоятельными, а фактически подчинены единому хозяйственному руководителю.

Организационная форма объединения предприятий, остающихся юридически самостоятельными, но передающих часть своей хозяйственной самостоятельности под общее руководство объединения. Существуют различные классификации концернов. В частности, различают фактические К., когда входящие в их состав юридически самостоятельные предприятия практически полностью теряют свою хозяйственную самостоятельность; договорные концерны, основанные на договорах между предприятиями; К. холдингового типа и концерны на базе головного (материнского) предприятия. В США и многих других англо-саксонских странах аналогичное понятие - корпорация.
