Система пересылки сообщений между пользователями вычислительных систем, в которой ЭВМ берет на себя все функции по хранению и пересылке сообщений. Для осуществления такой пересылки отправитель и получатель (получатели) не обязательно должны одновременно находиться у терминалов и необязательно должны быть подключены к одной ЭВМ.
