1 bus
A communication line used for data transfer among the components of a computer system. -
2 universal serial bus
"An external bus that supports Plug and Play installation, which enables you to connect and disconnect devices without shutting down or restarting your computer." -
3 front side bus
The bus within a microprocessor that connects the CPU with main memory. It is used to communicate between the motherboard and other components in a computer system. -
4 host bus adapter
"An hardware device for connecting a peripheral to the main computer, typically in the form of an expansion card."محوّل الناقل المضيف -
5 64 bit machine
"A computer that works with data in groups of 64 bits at a time. A computer may be considered a 64-bit machine either because its CPU operates internally on 64-bit words or because its data bus can transfer 64 bits at a time. A 64-bit CPU thus has a word size of 64 bits, or 8 bytes; a 64-bit data bus has 64 data lines, so it ferries information through the system in sets of 64 bits at a time. Examples of 64-bit architecture include the Alpha AXP from Digital Equipment Corporation, the Ultra workstation from Sun Microsystems, Inc., and the PowerPC 620 from Motorola and IBM." -
6 PCI
A specification introduced by Intel Corporation that defines a local bus system that allows up to 10 PCI-compliant expansion cards to be installed in the computer. -
7 PCI expansion slot
A connection socket for a peripheral designed for the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) local bus on a computer motherboard. -
8 USB
"An external bus that supports Plug and Play installation, which enables you to connect and disconnect devices without shutting down or restarting your computer." -
9 USB port
"A narrow, rectangular connection point on a computer or other device (such as a keyboard) where you can connect a universal serial bus (USB) device." -
10 expansion slot
"A socket in a computer, designed to hold expansion boards and connect them to the system bus." -
11 FSB
The bus within a microprocessor that connects the CPU with main memory. It is used to communicate between the motherboard and other components in a computer system.
