En el Reino Unido, el ombudsman que se ocupa de los casos de administración fraudulenta en los ministerios del gobierno, el NHS y otros organismos institucionales es el Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration. Su jurisdicción se limita al área administrativa del gobierno, pero no afecta a su política o legislación. Otros ombudsmen se nombran para estudiar las quejas que provienen de los clientes de instituciones financieras, como por ejemplo el Financial Ombudsman, el Building Societies Ombudsman o el Insurance Ombudsman.
