Maori for clock, orange corynocarpus laevigatusA leafy canopy tree. Grows to 15m high. The attractive orange fruits are poisonous. This traditional Mori food was only safe to eat after a long and complicated processing method. It is a common street and garden tree in the Auckland region. The Maori deliberately planted it in lowland and coastal areas. It was possibly brought to NZ from the Kermadec Islands as the Maori migrated here.<KARAK.JPG"><CORYNOCARPUS laevigatus3.jpg"><KARAKA.JPG">
