Б. часто классифицируют по назначению: коррозионно-, износостойкий, антифрикционный, электропроводящий и др.; по виду металлоизделия: листовой, сортовой, трубчатый и т.д.; по способу изготовления: катаный, кованый, тянутый, прессов, и т.д. Катаный б. изготовляют чаще всего с использованием след, способов соединения составляющих слоев: горячая и холодная прокатка пакетов, литье, сварка взрывом, электродуговая наплавка и др.
