Полное название - Военный колледж штата Южная Каролина [Military College of South Carolina, The]. Престижное высшее военное учебное заведение. Находится в г. Чарлстоне, шт. Южная Каролина. Основано в 1842 как военный колледж только для мужчин. Присваивает дипломы бакалавра и магистра [ bachelor's degree; master's degree] во многих областях, в том числе гражданских. Студенты (кадеты) обучаются по программе Учебного корпуса офицеров запаса [ Reserve Officers Training Corps]. В 1995 после принятия первой студентки разгорелся юридический конфликт - в 1993 у девушки по имени Шеннон Фолкнер [Shannon Faulkner] были приняты документы на поступление, поскольку посчитали, что такое имя принадлежит мужчине. После знакомства с поступившей ей отказали в приеме, под давлением суда разрешили занятия, но запретили проживание в общежитии, ношение формы и др.
