Сокращение, используемое в исторических работах наряду с BC (Before Christ — до рождества Христова). BCE — Before the Common Era — словосочетание с достаточно расплывчатым смыслом, которое, тем не менее, прижилось у иудеев, т. к. неприемлемый христианский элемент был убран. Таким же образом CE (Common Era — наша эра), иногда заменяет более распространённое AD (Anno Domini — лат. «в лето господне»). Иногда CE воспринимается как сокращение от Christian Era (христианская эра), что, конечно же, неверно. -
