Den Europæiske Centralbank, ECB, er fra 1. januar 1999 ansvarlig for formuleringen af pengepolitikken og styringen af en lang række centralbankfunktioner for euroområdet. ECB har tre styrende organer: Direktionen (Executive Board), Styrelsesrådet (Governing Council) og Det Generelle Råd (General Council).
