Den Europæiske Centralbank, ECB, er fra 1. januar 1999 ansvarlig for formuleringen af pengepolitikken og styringen af en lang række centralbankfunktioner for euroområdet. ECB har tre styrende organer: Direktionen (Executive Board), Styrelsesrådet (Governing Council) og Det Generelle Råd (General Council). Direktionen har ansvaret for den daglige drift af ECB, herunder gennemførelse af Styrelsesrådets pengepolitiske beslutninger. Styrelsesrådet består af direktionen og de 11 deltagende landes centralbankchefer. ECB’s tredje besluttende organ, Det Generelle Råd, består af alle 15 EU-landes centralbankchefer samt formanden og næstformanden for direktionen. -

Euroclear Operations Centre. Clearing house for omsætning af værdipapirer i Euro market. Hjemsted i Bruxelles. Med virkning fra begyndelsen af 2001 fusionerer Euroclear med Sicovam S.A. (the central securities depository of France), hvorved der skabes det største internationale clearingsystem i verden. Euroclear ændrer navn (og selskabsform) til Euroclear Bank S.A., Brussels. -
