17 Cadis
Flock or wadding of any fibrous material used for stuffing. Also called Caddice. A cheap woollen fabric made in Languedoc, France, as late as the 18th century. It was of 2 X 2 twill weave, about 22 in. wide. Low reed and pick and coarse yarns. Slightly fulled and piece-dyed with Brazil wood. During the late 18th century Scottish makers produced a similar cloth with the same name, and the Highlanders made garments from it. -
