Существует в Великобритании, во Франции, в Южной Африке и Сингапуре; в США отсутствует. В Великобритании учетный дом по размерам превосходит «вексельного» брокера. Во Франции роль основного посредника играет главный брокер (OPM opérateur principal du marché), который может действовать на межбанковском рынке как учетный дом (maison de réescompte) или любая другая финансовая организация. В качестве примеров можно назвать банк Лионский кредит, Парижский национальный банк и Кассу депозитов и консигнаций.
