Залив Берингова моря [Bering Sea] у юго-западного побережья Аляски, между материковой частью штата и полуостровом Аляска [ Alaska Peninsula]. Ширина у выхода 480 км, глубина 27-55 м (максимальная - 65 м). Много отмелей, что затрудняет судоходство для крупнотоннажных судов. Важный рыболовный район (сельдь, треска, лосось), консервные заводы. Туризм. В залив впадают реки Тогиак [Togiak River], Нушагак [Nushagak River] и Квичак [Kvichak River]. (1844-1881) Де Лонг, Джордж ВашингтонПолярный исследователь. В 1879 проплыл через Берингов пролив [Bering Strait] на паруснике "Жаннетта" [Jeannette], надеясь, что течение вынесет судно к Северному полюсу. После того, как корабль затерли льды, Де Лонг с частью экипажа достиг Сибири, но погиб там от голода. Экспедиция внесла большой вклад в изучение Арктики. Залив Чукотского моря [Chukchi Sea] на западе штата Аляска. Длина - 330 км. Ширина - 54-130 км, глубина - 13-25 м. Большую часть года покрыт льдами. Получил название по имени русского мореплавателя Отто Евстафьевича Коцебу (1788-1846), открывшего залив в 1816.
