•USAGE:(1.) Возвратное местоимение oneself выступает в безличных предложениях в паре с безличным местомением one, последнее играет роль подлежащего: One has to be careful not to hurt oneself using this instrument. Надо быть осторожным, чтобы не порезаться этим инструментом. На русский язык в безличном предложении ни one ни oneself часто не переводятся. В личных предложениях one заменяется на любое личное местоимение (I, you, he, she, we, they), в паре с которыми выступают соответствующие возвратные местоимения (myself, yourself, himself, herself, ourselves, themselves): You must be careful lest you should cut yourself with this sharp knife. Вы должны быть осторожны с этим острым ножом, а то порежетесь/как бы не пораниться. (2.) Возвратное местоимение, в отличие от аналогичных конструкций в русском языке, не употребляется после предлогов места beside, behind, in front of, before, around. В этих случаях употребляется форма объектного падежа личного местоимения: She closed the door behind her. Она закрыла дверь за собой. He saw a house in front of him. Он увидел дом перед собой. He put the bag beside him. Он положил сумку возле себя/рядом с собой. (3.) Предложные обороты by oneself и for oneself имеют различные значения. By oneself означает сделать что-либо самостоятельно, своими руками, без посторонней помощи; for oneself употребляется после глаголов see, judge, think, decide, find out и имеет значение своим умом, собственными глазами: I can't decide for you, you must judge (decide) for yourself.
