Дублирующая функция безопасности, которая обеспечивает заданный уровень безопасности, если способность составной части или элемента машины выполнять свои функции уменьшается или условия работы изменяются до опасного уровня.
Есть две категории автоматического контроля:
- непрерывный автоматический контроль путем немедленного включения мер безопасности, если наступает отказ;
- дискретный автоматический контроль, когда функция безопасности включается во время последующего рабочего цикла машины, если произошел отказ.
