μοῤῥία, ἡ, oder μόῤῥια, τά, Paus. 8, 18, 2 auch μοῤῥίνη, vollständig λιϑία μοῤῥίνη, Arr. peripl. m. Eryth. p. 145; die Schreibung μυρίνη u. μυῤῥίνη ist unrichtig, nach dem Latein, murrea, murrina, murrhina geschrieben; vasa murrina, die Murrinischen Gefäße, Becher, Näpfe, Schaalen u. vgl., welche zuerst 61 v. Chr. Geb. von Pompejus aus Asien nach Rom gebracht wurden; von einem verschieden gefärbten, undurchsichtigen, zerbrechlichen Stoffe, von dem Nichts erhalten ist, daher man ihre Masse verschieden deutet, als chinesischen Speckstein, Flußspath, eine Art Achat, Katzenauge u. dergl., s. Wolf's Museum der Alterthumswissenschaft 2, 3 p. 507 – 572, wonach es vielleicht Porzellan war. Das Wort selbst ist, wie die Sache, nicht griechisch; noch jetzt heißt bei den Russen die Glasur der Thonwaaren murawa.
