15 AJAX
(произносится "э-джэкс") аббревиатура, предложенная в начале 2006 г. компанией Adaptive Path, обозначающая подход к созданию интерактивных веб-приложений с помощью следующих технологий: стандартизированное представление страниц с использованием XHTML( или HTML) и CSS; динамическое отображение данных и взаимодействие с пользователем с помощью DOM; обмен и обработка данных в виде XML ( здесь возможны HTML, чистый текст и другие форматы); асинхронные запросы к серверу с помощью объекта XMLHttpRequest; скрипты на JavaScript. Кроме того, в AJAX изменился подход к обработке данных. Если в стандартном веб-приложении обработкой каждого события ( щелчка на ссылке, кнопке и т. д.) занимался сервер, тогда как браузер отвечал только за взаимодействие с пользователем, передачу запросов и вывод поступившего HTML-кода, то в AJAX-приложении между пользователем и сервером появляется ещё один посредник - движок AJAX (AJAX engine). Он определяет, какие запросы можно обработать локально (на компьютере пользователя), а какие на сервере, который теперь не формирует каждую страницу, а посылает только данные, нужные пользователю - HTML-код из них в браузере формируется движком AJAX. Таким образом, резко снижается нагрузка на сервер и объём сетевого трафика, повышается скорость реакции приложения на действия пользователя.
