A. erscheint bei Mozart oft als Tempoangabe von Menuetten: Symphonie in g-moll, KV 550; Symphonie in C-dur, KV 551; Kleine Nachtmusik, KV 525. Bei Beethoven kommt A. als Satzbez., teils mit verscheidenen Zusätzen, besondeers häufig vor, z. B. im 4. Satz der 6., im 3. Satz der 7. und im 2. Satz der 8. Symphonie(dort als 'A. scherzando'). -
6 allegro
(ital. = heiter, lustig)lebhaftes, schnelles Hauptzeitmaß; schneller als andante und langsamer als presto. Seit dem frühen 17. Jh. Bez. für eine lebhaften Bewegung, die ursprünglich mehr die Bedeutung einer Vortrags- denn einer bestimmten Tempovorschrift hatte. Erst im 18. Jh. charakterisierte man A. im Sinne einer eindeutigen Tempobezeichnung als weniger rasch als das Presto. Eine genauere Bestimmung erfolgte oft mit den Zusätzen 'commodo', 'con moto'., 'giusto', 'moderato' usw. Gelegentlich findet sich auch der Superlativ 'allegrissimo' (z. B. bei V. Jelich, 1622, später u.a. bei M. Clementi). In zyklischen Formen (Sonate, Symphonie, Streichquartett usw.) trägt der erste Satz häufig die Bez. A., doch kann A. auch Titel eines einzelnen Stückes sein (z. B. F. Chopin, Allegro de concert, op. 46; B. Bartók, Allegro barbaro).
