88 -amiable o amicable?-
Nota d'usoSia amiable che amicable significano “amichevole”, ma con sfumature diverse. Amiable significa “che appare piacevole e amichevole, affabile” soprattutto riferito al carattere delle persone: an amiable expression on her face, un'espressione amichevole sul suo viso; He was an amiable, welcoming chap to be with, era un tipo affabile e cortese. Amicable invece vuol dire “che mostra una disposizione cordiale, che ha tono e intenzioni amichevoli” e si usa in riferimento a discussioni, a relazioni interpersonali, e anche in ambito legale: to part on amicable terms, lasciarsi in termini cordiali; to reach an amicable settlement, raggiungere un accordo amichevole. -
