сокр ILGWU; истПрофсоюз производителей женской и детской одежды. Основан в 1900. Забастовки, организованные профсоюзом в г. Нью-Йорке в 1909-10, привели к заключению т.н. "Протокола о мире" [Protocol of Peace], в котором были заложены основы сотрудничества профсоюзов с руководством компаний. В 30-е гг. наблюдался быстрый рост профсоюза. Его активное участие в разработке планов социального обеспечения связано с руководством Д. Дубинского [ Dubinsky, David] (1932-66). В середине 90-х гг. XX в. насчитывал около 150 тыс. членов. Входил в АФТ-КПП [ AFL-CIO].
