Ок. 25 действующих вулканов. Луга и горные тундры. Рыболовство (треска, палтус, сельдь), добыча моржей, тюленя. Главный населенный пункт – Адак. Открыты в 18 в. русскими мореходами. Названы в честь русского мореплавателя Андреяна Толстых, который открыл и исследовал их в 1760-64.
