126 -economic, economical o cheap?-
Per indicare, invece, qualcosa che fa risparmiare perché particolarmente efficiente si usa l'aggettivo economical: What is the most economical car?, qual è l'auto più economica? Infine, l'aggettivo cheap corrisponde a “economico” nel senso di “poco costoso”: This restaurant is very cheap, questo ristorante è molto economico. Talvolta cheap viene usato anche in senso spregiativo: She always wears cheap clothes, indossa sempre vestiti da poco.English-Italian dictionary > -economic, economical o cheap?-

127 -grave o serious?-
Nota d'usoL'aggettivo italiano grave riferito a malattie, ferite o in generale a situazioni da difficili da affrontare, non corrisponde all'aggettivo inglese “grave” in contesti informali. Il termine più usato in questi casi è “serious”: Ha una malattia grave, she's got a serious illness (non she's got a grave illness); La situazione è grave, the situation is serious.
è sempre più bello) non va tradotta letteralmente con “to be always more” + aggettivo. La costruzione inglese è: “to get (o to become) + due volte l'aggettivo al grado comparativo”: Gli esami sono sempre più facili, exams are getting easier and easier (non exams are always easier). Se il comparativo si forma con “more”, quest'ultimo va raddoppiato: Risparmiare è sempre più difficile, saving money is getting more and more difficult.
