    B. USAGES.—A week, passim: used in a peculiar manner, as marking the remaining weeks of the summer; líðr á sumarit til átta vikna, viz. till eight weeks remained before winter, Nj. 93; var Rútr heima til sex vikna, 10; vá Böðvarr Kolbein Drottins-daginn at fjórum vikum, Ann. 1376. The ancient Scandinavians and Teutons in heathen times seem to have counted the year by pentads, called fimt, as has already been remarked s. v. fimt (p. 153), to which may be added the authority of the late Prof. Schlegel of Copenhagen in a notice of 1825, mentioned in Lex. Mythol. p. 753. The time when the Scandinavians changed their system is quite unknown; it would seem that in Icel. ‘weeks’ were already in use in the middle of the 10th century, could we but trust the record in Íb. ch. 4 as authentic in its details.

[a word quite different from the preceding, akin to vik and vík, the root word being víkja, q. v.]:—a sea mile, knot, answering to a mod. geographical mile, and equal to a ‘röst’ on land (see röst, p. 508): the term seems to have been derived from vík, a small bay, denoting the distance from ness to ness, and so referring to a time when ships coasted along-shore; the word is still in almost exclusive use in Icel.   • 8 Keil, Alfredo

    (1854-1907)
       Portuguese composer, musician, and painter of German descent who wrote the music for [I]A[/I] Portuguesa, the official national anthem of Portugal since 1911. Kiel began his studies in Germany, where he won bronze and silver medals for his work. He also showed his work in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 1890, he opened an atelier on the Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon, where he presented his seascapes, landscapes, and portraits. These works sold well, and some were even acquired by King Luís I for the royal art collection: A Saída da Igreja, A Primavera, Marinha, and Pôr-do-Sol.
       Having learned to play the piano, Keil began to study music with Hungarian pianist Oscar de le Cinne. Professor Ernesto Vieira taught him instrumentation and harmonization. Keil's first musical works were Aurora, Teus Olhos Negros, and Roses, Pompons e Romança. These were followed by Morenita, Souvenir de Vienne, and Carnaval. Well received, these works encouraged Keil to try his hand at opera. In 1882, he presented Suzana, a comic opera in one act. This was followed by other musical works, such as Recueil, melodies for the piano; Pátria, a work for piano and singer; Orientais, a symphony with chorus and solos; and D. Branca, an opera in four acts with a libretto taken from the poem by Almeida Garrett of the same title.
       D. Branca, presented in 1888, was wildly popular, which inspired Keil to write more operas: Irene (1893), and Serrana (1902). In 1902, he wrote the Hino do Infante D. Henriques for a festival marking the birthday of Prince Henry of Aviz (Prince Henry the Navigator), which was played by four military bands and sung by massed choruses. Additional patriotic music included, in 1895, a march titled Marcha de Gualdim Pais and A Portuguesa, with words by Lopes de Mendonça, which became the Portuguese national anthem in 1911.

    ① to provide with a seal as a security measure, seal w. acc. of the obj. that is to be secured or fastened by the seal: of a stone, to prevent its being moved fr. position (Da 6:18=Jos., Ant. 10, 258) Mt 27:66 (but s. μετά A3b). Likew. GPt 9:34, where the words μνημεῖον ἐσφραγισμένον refer back to the sealing of the stone used to close the tomb (8:32f); cp. ApcMos 42 ὁ θεὸς … ἐσφράγισε τὸ μνημεῖον. In the case of a closed building, so that it cannot be opened (Bel 11; 14) τὰς κλεῖδας 1 Cl 43:3. A bundle of rods, that were not to be disturbed 43:2. T. 1372; Mel., P. 16, 104 al.; in pap, of all kinds of animals), so that the mark denoting ownership also carries w. it the protection of the owner (on the apotropaic aspect cp. TestSol 14:2): σφραγίσωμεν τοὺς δούλους τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ τῶν μετώπων αὐτῶν Rv 7:3 (marking w. a seal on the forehead in the cult of Mithra: Tertullian, Praescr. Haer. 40). Corresp. ἐσφραγισμένοι vs. 4ab, 5, 8 (on the concept of sealing eschatologically cp. Ezk 9:4ff; Is 44:5; PsSol 15:6, 9; 4 Esdr 6:5f; 8:51ff. S. also LBrun, Übriggebliebene u. This forms a basis for understanding the imagery which speaks of those who enter the Christian community as being sealed with or by the Holy Spirit Eph 1:13; cp. 4:30. Sim. θεός, ὁ σφραγισάμενος ἡμᾶς καὶ δοὺς τὸν ἀρραβῶνα τοῦ πνεύματος ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ἡμῶν 2 Cor 1:22; but here the context contributes an additional component in the sense of ‘endue with power from heaven’, as plainly in J 6:27 (cp. σφραγίς 4a); but EDinkler, OCullmann Festschr. ’62, 183–88 associates 2 Cor 1:22 w. baptism; s. σφραγίς 4b.
    ④ to certify that someth. is so, attest, certify, acknowledge, fig. (as a seal does on a document: pap; Jer 39:10f; Esth 8:8, 10.—Anth. Pal. 9, 236 ἐσφράγισαν ὅρκοι) w. ὅτι foll. J 3:33.
    ⑤ to seal someth. for delivery, seal σφραγισάμενος αὐτοῖς τὸν καρπὸν τοῦτον Ro 15:28 is perh. to be understood fr. the practice of sealing sacks of grain (Dssm., NB 65f [BS 238f]). But some have thought that the imagery is rather hard to maintain, since the ‘fruit’ must not only be sealed, but also forwarded to Jerusalem and delivered there. In any case the sense of the expr. is easier to understand in some such wording as this: when I have placed the sum that was collected safely (sealed) in their hands (s.     6.1 ASSEMBLY designation marking

    The ASSEMBLY manufacturer shall provide each ASSEMBLY with one or more labels, marked in a durable manner and located in a place such that they are visible and legible when the ASSEMBLY is installed and in operation.

    Compliance is checked according to the test of 10.2.7 and by inspection.

    The following information regarding the ASSEMBLY shall be provided on the designation label(s):
    a) ASSEMBLY manufacturer's name or trade mark (see 3.10.2);
    b) type designation or identification number or any other means of identification, making it possible to obtain relevant information from the ASSEMBLY manufacturer;
    c) means of identifying date of manufacture;
    d) IEC 61439-X (the specific part “X” shall be identified).

    NOTE The relevant ASSEMBLY standard may specify where additional information is to be provided on the designation label.

    6.1 Маркировка

    Изготовитель НКУ должен предусмотреть на каждом НКУ одну или несколько табличек со стойкой к внешним воздействиям маркировкой, которые после установки и в процессе эксплуатации НКУ должны быть расположены на видном месте.

    Соответствие проверяют испытанием по 10.2.7 и внешним осмотром.

    На паспортной табличке должна быть приведена информация об НКУ, указанная в перечислениях а) — d):
    a) наименование изготовителя или его товарный знак (см. 3.10.2):
    b) обозначение типа, идентификационный или другой знак, позволяющий получить необходимую информацию от изготовителя;
    c) обозначение даты изготовления;
    d) обозначение настоящего стандарта.

    Примечание — На паспортной табличке может быть приведено обозначение конкретного стандарта на НКУ, если требуется дополнительная информация.
