    Глагол поручать ('вверять') что-л. кому-л. переводится английским entrust, употребляющимся в двух конструкциях: to entrust a person with a thing (with doing a thing) и to entrust a thing to a person. To entrust a person with a thing (with doing a thing) соответствует русским поручить кому-л. что-л. или поручать кому-л. делать что-л.: поручить бабушке заботу о детях – to entrust grandmother with the care of the children, поручить студенту сделать доклад – to entrust a student with making a report. В русском варианте дополнение, обозначающее поручение, стоит в дательном падеже и выражено существительным или инфинитивом; соответствующее ему английское дополнение является предложным и выражено существительным или герундием с предлогом with. To entrust a thing to a person совпадает по форме с соответствующей русской конструкцией поручать что-л. кому-л. и употребляется с дополнением – существительным или герундием: дать (поручить) студенту задание – to entrust a task to a student.
