¿To see, to watch o to look?
Los tres verbos reflejan tres conceptos muy distintos. To see hace referencia a la capacidad visual y no es fruto de una acción deliberada. A menudo se usa con can o could: I can see the mountains from my bedroom. Puedo ver las montañas desde mi dormitorio.
To look at implica una acción deliberada: I saw an old atlas, so I opened it and looked at the maps. Vi un atlas antiguo, así que lo abrí y miré los mapas.
To watch también se refiere a una acción deliberada, a menudo cuando se tiene un interés especial por lo que ocurre: I watched the planes in the sky with great interest. Miraba los aviones en el cielo con gran interés. ¿To see, to watch o to look?
Los tres verbos reflejan tres conceptos muy distintos. To see hace referencia a la capacidad visual y no es fruto de una acción deliberada. A menudo se usa con can o could: I can see the mountains from my bedroom. Puedo ver las montañas desde mi dormitorio.
To look at implica una acción deliberada: I saw an old atlas, so I opened it and looked at the maps. Vi un atlas antiguo, así que lo abrí y miré los mapas.
To watch también se refiere a una acción deliberada, a menudo cuando se tiene un interés especial por lo que ocurre: I watched the planes in the sky with great interest. Miraba los aviones en el cielo con gran interés. Igualmente puede indicar el paso del tiempo (we watched the animals playing for half an hour, durante media hora observamos cómo jugaban los animales), movimiento (they stood there watching the cars drive off into the distance, se quedaron allí de pie viendo cómo se marchaban los coches) o vigilancia (the policemen have been watching this house because they thought we were thieves, los policías estaban vigilando la casa porque pensaban que éramos ladrones). Para hablar de películas u obras de teatro usamos to see: Have you seen Hamlet?, ¿Has visto Hamlet? To watch se refiere a la televisión y los deportes en general: I always watch the television in the evening. Siempre veo la televisión por las noches. I like to watch football. Me gusta ver el fútbol. Al hablar de programas o partidos específicos podemos usar tanto to watch como to see: I like to see/watch the news at 9:00. Me gusta ver las noticias a las 9.00. Did you see/watch the match last night?, ¿Viste el partido anoche?

s. Hist. Hijo espúreo del Inka Wayna Qhapaq con la Princesa Pacha, del reyno de los Siris en Kitu, Ecuador, del Chinchaysuyu. Ordenó la muerte del Inka Waskar, su hermano por padre. Murió en Cajamarca, a su vez, en manos de los españoles, por orden de Francisco Pizarro, el 29 de agosto de 1533, después de haber sido bautizado con el nombre de Juan. No se coronó de Inka. Según Sarmiento de Gamboa, Atawallpa constituido en Cajamarca y en Wamachuqo, haciéndose recibir y obedecer como Inka, había tomado la borla imperial o maskaypacha y el qhapaq unku, autotitulándose Inka, "que no había otro, sino él". Ordenó a su ejército que prosiguiese su avance sobre el Qosqo y dar batalla y capturar a Waskar. Atawallpa asumió un poder absoluto y empleó crueles métodos de dominación. Sarmiento mismo señala que en el oráculo de Wamachuqo se le había vaticinado que tendría mal fin por su crueldad y tiranía. Garcilaso se refiere a la represión desatada por Atawallpa con estas palabras: "mayor y más sedienta que la de los Otomanos fue la crueldad de Atauwallpa que no hartándose con la de doscientos hermanos suyos, hijos del Gran Huayna Qhapaq, pasó adelante a beber las de sus sobrinos y parientes, dentro y fuera del cuarto grado, que como fuese de la sangre real, no escapó ningún legítimo bastardo ". -

1892-1968Otho u Otto Lovering fue contratado por Vitagraph en 1919 como ayudante de produccion. De ahi paso a la sala de montaje, oficio en el que se consolido. Realiza, no obstante, cuatro incursiones en la direccion cinematografica en los anos 1935 y 1936, entre las que se encuentran dos westerns de escaso interes basados en novelas de Zane Grey, no mejores aunque probablemente tampoco peores que un altisimo porcentaje de los que se realizan en los anos 30 y 40 en condiciones semejantes. Lovering estuvo muy ligado a John Ford, algunas de cuyas mas importantes peliculas cuentan con el como montador, por ejemplo La diligencia (Stagecoach, 1939), El hombre que mato a Liberty Valance (The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, 1962) y El gran combate (Cheyenne Autumn, 1964)Wanderer of the Wasteland. 1935. 62 minutos. 1894-1982Nacido en Galveston, Texas, proyeccionista de peliculas, operador de noticiarios y director de cortometrajes, realiza su primer largometraje en 1919 y poco despues, con Tintin de mi corazon (Peg o’My Heart, 1922), alcanza su primer exito, que revalidara en El gran desfile (The Big Parade, 1925) y en …Y el mundo marcha (The Crowd, 1928). Cuando llega el cine sonoro, King Vidor es ya uno de los directores de mas prestigio en el mundo entero. Se valoraba su capacidad de experimentacion visual, sus hallazgos tematicos, todo un universo, en fin, que el director iba creando poco a poco, a medida que dirigia peliculas. El prestigio se mantuvo hasta el fin de su vida, aunque fueron apareciendo dudas aqui y alla. Sin duda uno de sus filmes sonoros mas apreciados, discutidos e influyentes es el western Duelo al sol, magnifico y desmesurado fresco historico, que pone enfasis en lo individual a traves de una supuesta leyenda india. Siguiendo su inveterada costumbre, el productor David O. Selznick intervino mas de lo debido en la realizacion, contratando y descontratando directores, interviniendo personalmente, de forma que una de las tareas de investigacion mas arduas que puede acometer el investigador del western es delimitar la “autoria”, si se me permite la expresion, de la pelicula. Hombres como Otto Brower, William Dieterle, Sidney Franklin, William Cameron Menzies o Josef Von Sternberg intervinieron sin duda en algun momento de la produccion, preproduccion o posproduccion; he optado, sin embargo, por reconocer solo la participacion de William Dieterle, ademas, claro, de la de quien firma la pelicula, que no es otro que King Vidor.Billy the Kid (Billy the Kid o El terror de las praderas). 1930. 95 minutos.
