    В финской и эстонской графике широко используются удвоенные гласные, что обозначает их долготу.
    В передаче финских названий на русском языке сложилась противоречивая практика: удвоенные гласные отображаются, как правило, двумя гласными, но во многих географических названиях сохраняется их традиционная передача одной гласной.
    Следует иметь в виду, что буквы ä и ö располагаются в конце финского алфавита.
