Анализ, проводимый в течение определённого периода времени в конце клинического исследования у пациентов с высоким риском смертности. Например, в исследовании, в котором сравнивается обычный препарат и обычный препарат + новый препарат, врач хочет знать, влияет ли на дожитие использование нового препарата. Анализ дожития проводится ежегодно в течение, например, 5 лет; исследователь определяет процент доживших пациентов в каждой группе в конце каждого года. Анализ результатов исследования, проводимого в течение определенного и, как правило, длительного времени у пациентов с высоким риском летальности. Например, у больных с определенным онкологическим заболеванием отмечается высокая летальность в течение пяти лет после лечения. При проведении исследования, в котором сравнивают стандартную лекарственную терапию со стандартной терапией в сочетании с приемом нового препарата, необходимо выяснить, приводит ли применение нового препарата к повышению выживаемости пациентов. Анализ выживаемости проводят ежегодно на протяжении, например, 5 лет. На графике ежегодно отмечают количество выживших в каждой группе.
