«Верфь штата» (в 1913 правительство Нового Южного Уэльса создало судостроительную верфь на Уолш-Айленд {Walsh Island}; это предприятие внесло большой вклад в австралийское судостроение; в 1933 в результате экономического спада и депрессии верфь была закрыта, но в 1941–1942 гг. правительство штата создало новый судостроительный завод в Ньюкасле, куда было переведено оборудование старой верфи, в том числе плавучий док; к 1976 на верфи было построено более 90 судов, в том числе пассажирские суда, военные и грузовые корабли, нефтетанкеры и т. п.; помимо этого там строятся мосты, оборудование для электростанций; производится ремонт судов)Australia and New Zealand.
