δαιμόνιον, τό ( neutr. von δαιμόνιος), die Wirkung der Gottheit, die in dem Menschen wohnende Stimme des Göttlichen, Socrates bei Plat., die sich bei ihm bes. abmahnend äußerte, Theaet. 151 a Euth. 3 d; vgl. Xen. Mem. 1, 1, 2. 1, 4, 2; übh. = Gottheit, δαιμόνια ἕτερα καινὰ νομίζω Apol. 24 b; 27 e steht erst δαιμόνια καὶ ϑεῖα, nachher δαίμονες καὶ ϑεοί. Nach Plat. Conv. 202 e πᾶν τὸ δαιμόνιον μεταξύ ἐστι ϑεοῠ τε καὶ ϑνητοῠ. – Dem. 19, 239 vbdt οἱ ϑεοὶ εἴσονται καὶ τὸ δ. – Auch übh. = ϑεός, z. B. Isocr. 1, 13, u. bes. bei Sp. – Im N. T. der böse Geist, z.
