Rh. 1, 1280. – Weil aber jene hellen Augen einen lichtblauen od. grauen Schimmer haben, wurde es späterhin von solchen Farben gebraucht, bläulich, graublau, meerblau; χρόα κυανοειδής καὶ χαροπή Plut. fac. orb. lun. 21 M.; χαροπὴ ϑάλασσα Opp. Hal. 4, 312; Anacr. 54, 11; πέλαγος Antp. Sid. 53 (IX, 643), wie Mel. 80 (XI, 53); κύματα Secund. 3 (IX, 36); – Arist. H. A. 1, 10, vgl. gen. an. 5, 1, unterscheidet übrigens diese Farbe ausdrücklkch von γλαυκός, ohne daß wir den seinen Unterschied näher bestimmen können, vgl. Schneid. Orph. Arg. 459 u. Jac. A. P. p. 324. – Spätere Dichter nahmen das Wort übh. für »freudig«, »fröhlich«, χαροπὴ μερόπων τύχη Mesomed. 1.
