Закон о коррумпированных и находящихся под влиянием рэкетиров организацияхПринят в 1970 с целью борьбы с организованной преступностью. Разрешает конфискацию после предъявления обвинительного акта [ indictment] незаконно приобретенных или используемых активов обвиняемого и предусматривает возмещение убытков истца в тройном размере, если последний мог доказать, что ответчик систематически занимался рэкетом. Однако в 1980-е закон неоднократно применялся при слушании дел, не связанных с действиями мафиозных группировок [ Mafia] (нарушение правил обращения с ценными бумагами [securities fraud] и прочие преступления "белых воротничков" [ white-collar crime]), поэтому закон стал вызывать пристальное внимание защитников гражданских прав.
