Die kleine Psyche; die Verszeile ist der Novelle "Das Adelsfräulein als Bäuerin" von A. Puschkin als Motto vorangestellt). Bogdanowitschs Poem ist eine freie Nachdichtung von J. Lafontaines Roman "Les amours de Psyché et de Cupidon". Das Gedicht ist im Stil eines russischen Volksmärchens abgefasst, daher trägt auch die Hauptheldin den volkstümlich klingenden Namen Ду́шенька, d. h. Herzchen, Schatz.
