(PVI)Basé à Taïwan, PrimeView International (PVI) est à ce jour le seul fabricant d’écrans EPD (electronic paper display) à matrice active, plus communément appelé papier électronique, le nom technique étant TFT-LCD (thin-film transistor - liquid crystal display). PrimeView International débute la production en été 2007 des premiers modèles utilisant la technologie Vizplex (qui succède à la technologie E Ink) de la société E Ink. -
2 Vizplex
En mai 2007, la société E Ink annonce la prochaine génération de papier électronique sous le nom de Vizplex Imaging Film, appelé plus simplement Vizplex, une technologie EPD (electronic paper display) avec un chargement d’image deux fois plus rapide (740 microsecondes au lieu 1200), une image plus constrastée (20% de plus) et huit niveaux de gris au lieu de quatre. Les premiers modèles utilisant la technologie Vizplex seront produits dès l’été 2007 par son partenaire PrimeView International (PVI), qui est à ce jour le seul fabricant d’écrans EPD à matrice active. Les futurs écrans souples auront une diagonale de 1,9 pouces, 5 pouces, 6 pouces, 8 pouces et 9,7 pouces. Ils équiperont divers appareils: téléphones mobiles, lecteurs de MP3, accessoires PC, assistants personnels (PDA), affichettes commerciales, dictionnaires électroniques, tablettes de lecture (ebooks) et tablettes PC. La génération précédente (technologie E Ink) se limitait aux écrans de 6 pouces à destination des ebooks.
