интерфейс переносимой операционной системы
набор стандартов POSIX
Разработанный в 1988 г. IEEE набор стандартов для UNIX, описывающих интерфейсы этой ОС. Разработан для обеспечения переносимости приложений между различными версиями UNIX. В частности, POSIX P1003.1 определяет API для ядра ОС, 1003.2 - оболочку (shell) и утилиты, а 1003.4 - расширения для поддержки работы в реальном масштабе времени (см. также SVID).
