Создана компанией Echelon совместно с фирмами Motorola и Toshiba для использования в учреждениях (интегрируя системы защиты, освещения и вентиляции) и в производственных помещениях (для соединения производственных систем). В такие сети могут быть включены около 4,5 млрд. технологических систем в различных странах мира. Сеть базируется на моноканале на основе электрической сети или скрученной пары проводов. При использовании проводов электрической сети скорость передачи данных равна 10 Кбит/с, а для скрученной пары проводов она составляет 1,2 Мбит/с. Передача данных осуществляется специальными БИС. Сеть имеет простую, но высоконадежную архитектуру, использует универсальную систему адресации, обеспечивающую подключение в одну сеть до 32 ООО простых абонентских систем. Набор протоколов сети соответствует ЭМВОС.
