(из греческой мифологии) Ariadnefaden ( aus der griechischen Mythologie). Auf der Insel Kreta gab es ein Labyrinth; darin hauste Minotaurus, ein Ungeheuer, dem auf Geheiß des kretischen Königs Minos Menschenopfer dargebracht wurden. Der attische Held Theseus tötete den Minotaurus. Den Rückweg aus dem Labyrinth fand er mit Hilfe eines Garnknäuels, das ihm Ariadne, Tochter von Minos, aus Liebe heimlich mitgegeben hatte. Der Ausdruck wird bildlich für Leitfaden, Hilfsmittel für schwierige Dinge verwendet. -
