    A small town in Bæotia, where Epaminondas defeated the [p. 1054] Spartans, now the village of Leuca, with the ruins of Eremo-Castro (cf. Mann. Griechenland, p. 238), Cic. Tusc. 1, 46, 110; id. Off. 1, 18, 61:
