Престижный жилой район г. В начале XVIII в. был частным поместьем. Название получил от писателя Дж. Барлоу [Barlow, Joseph], купившего здесь поместье в 1807. -

Назван так в 1882 в честь героя Гражданской войны [ Civil War] адмирала Сэмюэла Ф. Дюпона [DuPont, Samuel Francis]. В честь победы адмирала под г. Порт-Ройял, шт.
