Грасс Гюнтер (род. в 1927), писатель, драматург, художник, в Германии один из наиболее читаемых авторов наряду с Ленцем и Бёлем. Активный участник политической жизни, особенно в 1960-1970-х гг., поддерживал СДПГ и её председателя В.Брандта в период предвыборных кампаний. Нобелевская премия в области литературы в 1999 г. за роман "Моё столетие". Международное признание пришло после опубликования в 1959 г. романа "Жестяной барабан", первого из "Данцигской трилогии", включающей новеллу "Кошки-мышки" и роман "Собачьи годы". Основная тематика произведений – уроки немецкой истории, проблемы западной цивилизации (в частности, моральные последствия "экономического чуда" для Германии), отношение со странами третьего мира, роль художника в историческом процессе.
