6 European Central Bank
Den Europæiske Centralbank, ECB, er fra 1. januar 1999 ansvarlig for formuleringen af pengepolitikken og styringen af en lang række centralbankfunktioner for euroområdet. ECB har tre styrende organer: Direktionen (Executive Board), Styrelsesrådet (Governing Council) og Det Generelle Råd (General Council). Direktionen har ansvaret for den daglige drift af ECB, herunder gennemførelse af Styrelsesrådets pengepolitiske beslutninger. Styrelsesrådet består af direktionen og de 11 deltagende landes centralbankchefer. ECB’s tredje besluttende organ, Det Generelle Råd, består af alle 15 EU-landes centralbankchefer samt formanden og næstformanden for direktionen. -

Sammensat valuta (composite currency). Ecuen er ophørt med at eksistere, idet den pr. 1. januar 1999 blev afløst af euroen. -
8 European depositary receipt
Europæisk depotbevis, der udstedes og handles i Europa på samme måde som American depositary receipts i USA. -
9 European Investment Bank
Den Europæiske Investeringsbank, der blev oprettet i 1958, yder lån og garantier til finansiering af projekter, der kan bidrage til en jævn og afbalanceret udvikling i EU. Bankens kapital tilvejebringes ved indskud fra EUs medlemsstater og ved lån på de internationale kapitalmarkeder. Forkortes EIB. -

Det europæiske valutasamarbejde, som blev etableret i marts 1979. Afløstes 1. januar 1999 af ERM II. -
